Design: Before and After

Below is a screenshot of a graphic that I created to promote a program.

Before

Below is a similar graphic after applying some basic design concepts. For example, in the first design, there was minimal use of margin space. I added more margins and white space in the second graphic. Also, in the first design, the text was placed over the image, making it difficult to read. I created more white space in the second graphic to lay the text over. Finally, in the first design, your eye didn't know where to go because the logo was so large and so was the program title, creating multiple focal points. In the second graphic, the logo is smaller and placed in the upper left-hand corner, more emphasis is placed on the program title and URL, and there is a better use of typography and color.

  1. Yes, Jen, this revamp is terrific! Even though the changes are minimal, they're JUST right for this redesign. If anything, your examples here demonstrate what a difference a BIT of the right combined design elements can make! I hope you use the revised example from here on out, because it's a 10!
